Hello All,

Just wondering if the situation in Vineland has improved at all in the last 3 years. Looking to move to a more affordable area. Thanks!

I live not-too-far from Vineland, and I would say it is pretty much the same as it was when this thread was started. Some nice old homes, non-stratospheric taxes, plenty of grocery shopping and mall/big box shopping. It does have its depressed areas, and areas of crime, although it's in the news a lot less than nearby Bridgeton as far as crime is concerned. If you find a home in Vineland you're interested in, do your homework about the neighborhood. If you have a farm nearby and you value your peace and quiet, you might want to check and see if the farm is preserved farmland. So many farms in South Jersey have been sold to developers, who then put up a big honking dense development.

I know someone who recently moved to Elmer. It’s in Salem County and within 20 minutes of Vineland and it might be a decent town to consider. It’s deep in rural Southern NJ much like Cumberland County. It’s also a more Republican area with a Republican Congressman there whose district includes Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic and Cape May counties. When I take backroads from Berlin to Vineland, I would see homes with colorful anti Biden messages or pro Trump.

As far as shopping, they still have 3.5 percent sales tax, half being in an urban enterprise zone in Vineland. It should be good on electronics. There is a Best Buy but a smaller format store in Vineland, and Boscovs amongst a few other chains. Stores in Millville should be in a 3.5% tax zone.
