I always hoped to see them in Ontario, but I never did. I don't care where I am, I just would like to see them.

Oh that's interesting. I assumed you being up north for so long that you would have seen them.

Nope. And the bf, who lived his whole life in Canada and spent much of it outdoors night and day, never saw them either!

Awww. My sister in law lives in Michigan and has seen them once I think. It must be extraordinary.

It would be awesome, but I've gotten my hopes up too many times with these "may be visible..." announcements.

True, plus the weather doesn't help. I'm going to look for it though.

Same here.

My coworker recently showed me pictures he took of the northern lights. He was way up in Alaska, though, at Denali National Park.

There are aurora borealis trackers with live updates similar to rain storm weather maps. Use the maps so you can target when your chances are best for viewing.

This is a website I check regularly:

https://www.gi.alaska.edu/monitors/aurora-forecast

I also heard the aurora announcement while watching big network broadcast news. So much for being a credible source of information. They included AK in the "viewing area". Unfortunately, anyone who knows much of anything about the state would have realized that AK's night sky doesn't really get dark enough to see the aurora in July! Sunset is after 11 pm and sunrise is about 5 am right now. On top of that, due to the sun angle, dawn and dusk are slow and gradual. There's almost no true darkness at all.
