This is one of the reasons why its extremely important to elect a Republican Governor next election. Starting in 2027 they will start to limit the amount of gas cars being able to be sold in the state.
Exactly. I have no problem with people who wish to buy an EV, but it should be a choice...not something FORCED on us. Dems love to dictate and take away choices.
Another fact, our electric grid absolutely cannot handle the entire state operating EVs. Heck, it can barely handle everyone running their ACs in the summer. They are totally out of their minds! Even CT squashed their EV law recently once they realized the grid cannot handle it.
If you read beyond the headline in the very article you posted, it says verbatim “The move does not prohibit ownership or use of gasoline-powered cars, not does it force consumers to buy electric vehicles”.
But of course, details don’t matter when you must support your political affiliation.

Its suppression of choice. It may not limit your ownership, but good luck buying a new one. The question is how do they propose to limit choice, limit the amount of cars that can be sold and registered in the state? added taxes to car sales? It doesn't clarify but it does exist which is the concern. The Governor wants to phase out all gas cars over the next 10 years which is scary, considering average person keeps a car for 8 years.
The question is, why are we doing this? For an unproven climate change agenda? Is global warming real - the verdict isn't even out yet but there is a lot of money to made and power to be gained. Are you supporting this non-sense due to a political agenda? Even if climate change was real (which its not proven), NJ makes up 1/100th of 1% of the worlds population, and even less than that from an emissions standpoint. NJ literally has zero effect of the climate if we do or do not exist.
The real answer all this non-sense is about money, power, and transfer of power. Nothing more, nothing else. They WEF came up with the scheme 40 years ago, and now we have an Administration dumb enough to enact on it and now its all we ever talk about because they are indoctrinated us with it.

Correct. If Dems stay in charge, we are in a hell of a lot of trouble!

All politics aside, as things stand now, you will NOT be able to buy a NEW gas powered car by 2028. This is a fact and a scary one unless there IS a change of politics in NJ. This means you will be forced to eirher buy an EV, take public transit, or buy a 8 year old unreliable used gas car 2nd hand. As I said, even CT squashed their similar EV law because the grid simply cannot handle millons of people charging their cars overnight.

I know exactly what the law says. I also figured you’d play word semantics. The fact remains: NJ is banning the sale of new gas cars as of 2035, with limitations beginning in 2027. It’s not debatable. I’m the automotive moderator because of all the EV lies told on this forum. This is not one of them.
I don’t have a political affiliation and I drive an EV. Argue with the others.
