I also had something similar happen to me today. I just moved to jersey city heights and commute to queens during the week. I am trying out different options to see which is the most cost effective, time effective, etc. At first i drove, then i tried the buses, now this week am trying the light rail.
On trains, the conductor checks your tickets, on the subway you pass your metro card through the slot to pass, on the PATH you pass your card through a slot to pass... but on the light rail the only thing that is obvious is the ticket machine.
This stupid little validation thing which i just found out about today (after paying for 10 tickets and never having them checked by anyone) because i got a $75 ticket for, as i had NO CLUE that I had to validate my tix before getting on this light rail.
The validation machine is not obvious... it is not clear to first time users that you have to validate anything... it says nothing on the machine where you purchase your ticket... nothing on the ticket, no signs- NOTHING!!!!
This is unjust and needs to be addressed! Commuters need to be protected by these unclear regulations!
Got a Fare Evasion ticket for NJ Path train recently. It was a mistake on my part. Don't know what I was thinking and just walked in after another person.
I have to make a mandatory court appearance, how does it work if I want to plead guilty in the court. Will this show up on any background checks or effect immigration status. First hand experience is really appreciated.
Sorry, UKOK, I didn't run away. I was standing there until the cop took me away.
I'm not telling you to run and it does sound like the Cop was a bit of an ass but you're from a different country in America ,....pretty sure you should have some ID on you.
