Channel 4 tonight had a piece about the husband of Governor-elect Martinez. He seems like a good guy. That's another thing that's gonna be kinda cool and even a little weird, is to have the spouse of the governor not be a woman. They made mention of what he might be called. I offer my vote for simply the "First Husband".

He is a sportsman! and a active guy, lose and energetic... thank god him over Herb Denish.. that old fool would have taken up space in the mansion... with all the lobby contracts he has. $$$$
"First Gentleman" is normally the proper term for that postion.
Yes, but "First Gentleman" is a bit awkward to say. I don't see it catching on. I doubt many people will use it in everyday conversation. I think "First Husband" just rolls off the tongue. Of course, "First Husband" does have the potential to sound like it has connotations about divorce. Still, I like it better.
Many people I know are referring to him as the "First Dude."
Hey, I like that, but whatever they call him, I am sure he will be happy with it. Well, that might not be the case, but I am sure he is very proud of his wife right now and he should be.
