I like Alamogordo. It's one of those towns that's large enough to offer most of what you'd prefer, but small enough to not suffer from congestion/traffic/crime issues. It sits in a beautiful natural setting at the base of the Sacramento Mtns with the Tularosa Basin stretching out in front of it. Mild winters, but good skiing is only an hour's drive away in Ruidoso. Hot summers. The nice thing is that the cool pine forests are only 30 minutes away in the Cloudcroft area.
If you feel the occasional need to spend time in a larger city, Las Cruces (100,000) is only 60 miles off and El Paso (600,000) is 90 miles to the south.
Do you have any real verifiable statistics on this?

What is occuring in Southern NM is becoming more public, and more information is being publicized. It's on the internet. The one who would have actual statistics is the AF and they aren't providing claim information and to the public. It was mentioned in a recent meeting that the AF was paying onlly 10% of claims and ignoring the rest of the 90%. This problem is being reported regularly to offices of Elected officials and there are different websites who are also covering the problem including people who show cracks in their home due to sonic booms. Furthermore, there is much research on sonic booms from NASA, experts, AF, and FAA as well as research taking place right now. The NAVY has reported on the sonic boom including associated problems to health and structures. A doctor who lived in NV during Navy tests sued the NAVY over the effects to the people, animals, and stuctures in that area. I spoke to his wife on the issue recently.

My family and I have loved the Alamogordo area for many years. The beauty of the surrounding area is great, but with the problems that I have mentioned about the sonic booms and other. We are very disappointed that this would be allowed to take place where many would be affected.
Geez, winslow2, no disrespect you certainly sound like you've researched this, but it sounds a bit like moving next to the railroad then complaining about the locomotive horn.
