The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) has an automated message service with up to date info. on all civil service exams.

You can call the number which is 212-669-1357. I think it is option #3
that lets you just punch in your s.s. #, and the response will provide you
with a list of all DCAS exams you have taken (or scheduled to take), and
will include your past scores, list #, number reached and total # of eligibles on list, when list will expire, etc.

This is where I found out the great news about the 2 year extension.
Not by word of mouth - but directly from the source itself.

You're welcome!

There were approximately 7,500 called off the last list, so based on this info.
rank #6300 should definitely be in the running. Believe it or not, the eligible list is over 20,000. Chances of getting called beyond rank #8000 are probably very slim, but there's always next time to try and score high enough to be in the selection pool.

Do you know if any of the newly hired workers were laid off?

Does anyone know who I can contact if I never received a letter for the physical even though people with higher list numbers have? I've tried every dcas and sanitation phone number and I just keep getting the run around

well this is the info from dsnh.gov and if your list number falls between these numbers then you need to call.

The current Sanitation Worker list from civil service exam # 6063 was established on Feb. 20, 2008 and will expire on Feb.19, 2012. Presently, the last appointment was list # 484. Any candidate who passed the written exam # 6063 and has list # below 6,856 but was not scheduled for the physical test should visit the DCAS website for further instructions. If you passed your physical test and your list # is 840 and below, letters for Pre - Orientation were mailed during April, 2008. If you failed to receive a Pre - Orientation letter, call Sanitation's Human Resources at (646) 885-0900. It must be noted that your address must be current during the duration of this list. Any changes must be submitted to:

If I am not mistaken you are going to have to wait until the next round of the physical,if there will indeed be a round 3. I highly doubt it that DCAS would set up the props, etc for just a few people who missed their chance.

What is your list number? You should have called back in the fall of 08,which is the last time they ran the physical for the 2nd round(#3759-#6758). Now this doesn't mean that you are DQ'd,just passed up until the next round of the physical. To be honest with you I highly doubt that there will be a 3rd round for the physical even with this 2 yr list extension.
