The Stone Quarry housing project (being done by the Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services) which is trying to make a dent in the affordable housing needs of the city, is finally underway. There has been quite a few hold ups, but I'm sure once completed a lot of Ithacans with lower income will be happy.

Do you know if this is the only such project being built within Ithaca city limits? I'm curious, as I've heard of people looking in outer towns in Tompkins County or adjacent counties for more affordable housing.

Looks like the EcoVillage at Ithaca (just outside the city limits) is expanding again. Fairly sizable eco-conscience development for a small metro like Ithaca. Here's an update (including pics and other links):

An article from the Ithaca Voice regarding Ithaca's Mayor (in his 3rd year) and his support for the recent development spurt in the city. Nice to have a non-Nimby in a position where he can make a difference.
