I got quoted $225 for the front and $240 for the rear, parts and labor. So $465 total for front and back replacing of brake pads.
I just ran it through one of my auto quote apps. 3.2 hours for front/rear pads and turning rotors. $376 for parts and labor avg for independent shop. $475 at a dealer.
1.6 hrs for just pads, no rotor turning. approx $245 from independent shops.
OK thanks blackhemi. Looks like they are towards the high side. I'm just going to have them do it for $465. Not worth my time to shop around and I can walk to this auto shop so it's convenient. This is in Seattle WA which tends to be an expensive area, wonder if there is a variance in price for geographic location?
Definitely there is a price differential. For example two dealers for the same make, one in the Chicago area (city and burbs) will be anywhere from 10% to 35% higher than most other areas of the country.
I'm not surprised Seattle is high, and if it's convenient for you, go with them as long as they're a good, reputable shop.
Also, does that $465 include resurfacing rotors?
I don't know if that includes resurfacing the rotors. They didn't mention that when they called me back and told me what they needed to do to fix the loud squeaking noise in my breaks I was hearing. Don't know if they automatically do that. They have a pretty good reputation on Yelp and the shop has been around for 25+ years I think. It's has a Firestone sign on the shop. I'm new to the area so I don't know any auto shops here yet.
I'm almost certain it will include the resurfacing. If it does, it's not a unreasonable price. Could be cheaper, and it could be more expensive. As long as they do good work, and stand behind it, right
Using the cheapest available rotors and pads....$130ish. But you get what you pay for and cheap brake parts tend to squeak unless very well greased up during the install.
Autozone usually prices matches rockauto.com, but rockauto has way more selection in parts
$500 for new pads and rotor resurfacing?? Wow. That just seems high but i've always been a DIYer with brakes. Usually a full F&R brake job for me is $250ish with new pads and rotors
