I have been researching moving south for some time now, florida was my first thought but N Carolina is somewhere I like as well. I am a diesel mechanic by trade and would need to work, also we have a 11 year old son to raise. We would like a home with 4-5 acres at least for our hobby animals. Any suggestions is greatly apreciated. Thanks Rich

Perhaps somewhere along the I-95 corridor such as Smithfield. There must be thousands of trucks passing through there. There is also a lot of farmland to the east of I-95. My other suggestion is the I-40 corridor, perhaps where it intersect I-77 at Statesville.

My husband's best friend is a Diesel Mechanic and works at Sunbelt Rentals. He lives near Smithfield and has a number of acres, but commutes to Wake Forest for work.

I just did a quick search, and there are Diesel Mechanic jobs available with Sunbelt in Winston Salem right now, so that kind of region might be worth looking at.

Is the Volvo truck plant still in Greensboro? That might be worth looking into.

Check out the SalisburyPost online job page. There are a few transport companies in the Rowan County area and I have seen them advertise in want ads lately, for diesel mech.

Volvo's truck plant is/was up around Pulaski, VA. The facility in Greensboro is a research and headquarters, not manufacturing.
