I will say Durham gets plenty of concerts these days, at least compared to the past, which is a win for them.
Look whose talking..... the person who settle in Hwy 150 and Interstate 77 hell. Of course it may all be worth is for a Melanzane alla Parmegiana at I Bambini's.

Four economically and demographically moribund Upstate New York cities -- Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo grouped together between #s 17 and 27? It's real estate shill stuff. No harm in talking about it, but to take it seriously? C'mon.

This ranking measures cities primarily by economic and job creation performance. Much more objective and quantifiable metrics. Some of us might not like it, but it's not as easily dismissed.

Totally agree. That's why I posted this link. A credible think tank like Milken does their homework and base their rankings on objective data.

Oh I didn't "settle" here, my job settled me here! However, it's home for now, at least until the kid is out of school which Mooresville has great schools so for what I needed it for it's been good. When he's done with highschool in a couple of years I will put Mooresville in the rearview no doubt though, iBambini or not! lol

I agree, MGSD is one of, if not, the best in the State. We are a Mooresville family with roots in the town for generations. We have lived elsewhere for jobs and families, but recently found our way back to Mooresville. It is not the Mooresville of old, though I guess you could say that about any other place as well.

The Milken list is not a best of the best but a ranking overall.

Not being on the list is a bad thing.

Being in tier 1 is excellent. Tier 2 is very respectable. Tier 3 is meh. Tier 4 is not really that great of an area.

One that really surprised me was Virginia Beach and how low they were. The biggest issue there was affordability. 7 years ago (before the market got absurd) you still needed like $300k+ for a decent house. And I see that did factor into the Milken rankings.

Oh wow someone actually from Mooresville? I've known exactly 3 of those in the 13 years I've lived here which is a little depressing! My neighborhood only has probably 3 or 4 families out of 45 that are from NC, everyone else is a transplant which is pretty indicative of Mooresville as a whole probably. It is a good city to raise a family in so I can see the appeal for those moving here.

Not many of us left.... unicorns so to speak.

We love it here, but also love our mountain house. The best of both worlds, winters here and summers in WNC. With an occasional trip back and forth each season just to complain about the weather!!!

Asheville is a great place, but the city government is notoriously difficult to do business with, and attracting any sort of professional level job base has been a struggle for years. The cost of housing and lack of jobs (at least at the lower professional levels) basically all but ensures young people will move to greener pastures.
