1) Charlotte is on the border of SC so when watching the news it's usually a lot of news from the Charlotte area including a lot of York and Lancaster Counties.
2) Reading the Charlotte Observer always has stuff about the area and SC areas...Always my USC football team news.
3) Carowinds, when I go there, that's the only place I never know what state I'm in sometime lol.
4) I've been to Asheville like twice and other NC cities....Been to Greensboro and Raleigh by passing through. The only city I've spent a lot of time in other than Charlotte was Durham for 5 days....So I still don't know too much about NC....I feel like I live in an extension of my state of SC in Charlotte lol.

That's okay. Most people in NC don't feel like Charlotte is part of NC either

Please do some searches on the Carolina Shores community in the Coastal NC forum. For example: https://www.city-data.com/forum/coast...na-shores.html

It is mainly a retirement community with an aging golf course. West Brunswick High School is at best average, and is about 10 miles away.

If you want better schools, please look at Hampstead, as most of the Wilmington high schools are in the average range.

The unemployment rate is in the 9-10% range, so I wouldn't assume you can find a job easily. Good Luck!

For a comprehensive overview of the state, you may appreciate reading online or subscribing to the Our State magazine. The magazine basically divides the state into four sections, with articles in each section relative to the arts, entertainment, crafts, what's going on etc. etc.

www.ourstate.com

I don't recall the OP saying where in NC he is considering. ?? Here is another excellent website:

www.carolinaliving.com covers from the coast to the mountains.

Absolutely, stay away from here! The place has mountains, beaches and two of the fastest growing metros in the United States. It has an outstanding community college system, great public (some of the most affordable in the country) and private universities and an unparalleled quality of life.

The place experiences four seasons and is as green as a four leaf clover....it's the armpit of the world compared to most other states.
