If I have a valid TN driver's license that expires in 5 years, what tests do I need to take to get a NC driver's license beyond the eye test?

Thanks! What are insurance fees like compared to TN and car registration?

You need to pass the written test and eye test, but they should waive any driving test (they did for me).

I can't compare to TN, but my insurance was about 20% higher than it was in the Phoenix AZ area. Car registration was also higher, but I think some of that was first time fees.

WOw they must have changed the law since I last checked a few years ago - they said they would take another state license in lieu of a written test. Unless I misunderstood them.

We had to take the written test (with valid California drivers licenses), but no driving test. We're also not 17 years old ...

We had written test and vision.

For us coming from Michigan insurance is 50% less and registration is almost 75% less.

It is the yearly property tax on cars that make it higher for us.

How we are anxiously awaiting our tax bill....

Sorry; I forgot that we also had the vision test.

And, yes, they do like their taxes here.
