searching for any info I can find on housing, mainly interested in renting, at least until I get my feet nice and cold and see what else is available.

I want to stay in Walhalla, since having lived in deep south Texas for 30 years, I have no idea how to drive in the winter weather and Walhalla will be the closest town to where I will be working

Realtor.com lists an apartment for $625, but no homes. Cavalier has more options and isnt that far.

There are a fair amount of deals of lesser cost than the 600$/month mark, but generally they crop up over time. Only about a thousand people live in town and it tends to be tight knit.

What kinds of conditions do you need? I have a house being fixed up in town in decent part of town. It isn't ready for occupancy yet, though electricity and water are connected.

Walhalla is a fairly nice place to live though a bit isolated for many. If you have a clean record (DUIs will not be acceptable), there is a Walmart and even bigger Superstore about 15 minutes away. The catch is it is in Canada, in Winkler. Winnipeg metro area is about 800,000 people and 90 minutes from town.
