Pacific Blvd just opened, which means there's a new way to get to the Ashburn Weggie's without having to mess with the Rt 28/Waxpool intersetcion. Take Nokes across Rt. 28, and then take Pacific. It's a really nice road that even has a cute bridge crossing over the W&OD. It cuts my drive to Weggie's almost in half. Love it!

I heard that - my office is actually moving to a building on Pacific Blvd. this weekend - although I won't get to see it for 3 weeks as I'm now at Ft. Huachuca, AZ for the next 3 weeks. Wegmans is a stone's through from my building - it appears you could almost walk to Wegmans from it. I love Wegmans in Gainesville so it's great there's now one near my new office, too!

You're working in Kincora? Cool! So, are you excited about going to the minor league ball games, or planning to go home early on those days?

Sorry to break the news, but Wegman's is in Sterling (20166). I do agree that it is great not to have to take the old route.

It doesn't help me much, since coming from my house to Wegmans I have to go through the LCP/Waxpool intersection. However, I like it for coming home from Dulles Town Center. If I take 28, I have to deal with merging left across three lanes past the flyover ramp traffic. But I miss that if I take Pacific.

This!!

We actually had to go to Best Buy after going to Target in Ashburn.. err Sterling over the weekend and it was such a breeze. So instead of trying to get out of the Wegmans shopping center and onto Waxpool (you know, this can take forever..), we just took a right onto Pacific instead and were at Best Buy within a few moments. Love it!

I'm working at AOL's former campus (well, they still have a few buildings over there but my company is leasing 4 buildings in it). Not real familiar with the area yet - only drove by there once to check out what my commute route will be like. Didn't know there's some minor league stadium there.

I thought 28 was the dividing line between Ashburn and Sterling. See, this is why I really wish we could split Sterling (and maybe also Ashburn) into clearly defined sections, and ask map companies to draw the boundaries on their maps. I like all the sections of Sterling, but they have nothing in common and they're not near each other, leading to chronic confusion. True, this is not a big deal--but it would be nice to have it divided and clearly defined.

My new office seems to be having an identity crisis. Seems like they claim the mailing address is Sterling (with 20166 zip code) but want to say they are in "Dulles, VA". I'm not sure what the correct address is. Doesn't matter to me, but I suppose "Dulles" sounds better for a business. When telling us where it was at - they said to use Sterling for things like GPS, but that "it is really in Dulles, VA". Whatever....

That's exactly what happens with all the Sterling communities. Most people end up using both Sterling (the assigned name) and whatever the "real" community name is almost interchangeably. Both names work just as well as far as things like getting your mail delivered. If you're talking to someone who doesn't live near the area it's usually easier to say Dulles, because that's more meaningful. When you say Sterling, people who don't live nearby tend to assume you mean Sterling Park, which is several miles away from Dulles.
