Eric Church Ups War Against Scalpers, Cancels 25,000 Tickets - Rolling Stone
Eric Church cancelled a LOT of fan tickets with the algorithm he used to figure out who is a "scalper."

Also his tickets are priced much lower than what is assumed the market value should be.

Most concerts are already max priced AND overbrokered, leaving a lot less room to squeeze out a profit.

Default Hamilton @ Kennedy Center Summer 2018

The Broadway hit Hamilton is coming the Kennedy Center next summer. The show has been sold out on Broadway since it opened three years ago and tickets from resellers are over $1000. If the Kennedy Center sell tickets to Hamilton like they did Book of Mormon when it first came to DC a few years ago, they will sell to subscribers first, then groups, then the general public. Tickets for individual performances for the general public do not even go on sale until March 2018, yet they can be found on scalper websites today, starting @ $754 for the 2nd tier balcony! How is this even possible!

If they do it like Durham did, it will be current season subscribers who ALSO renew for next season. And they'll not just get their subscribed seats, they'll also have first dibs to purchase other seats. I'll be surprised if there's anything left for a general public sale. Pretty manipulative way to sell those season packages, IMO.

I'm not holding my breath that I'll see Hamilton anytime in the next 5-10 years.

I am a Kennedy Center member (albeit lower level), but there aren't "subscriber seats". It isn't like have season tickets to the Redskins. You get priority access to purchase tickets (and other benefits, depending on level), but not guaranteed seats to any show.

Hmmm. Interesting. Durham sells season packages to all of the Broadway Series shows. I figured Kennedy Center might do something similar. My bad.

With Wolf Trap, it sometimes pays off to actually visit the box office. Not only do you save on fees, but I'm convinced they have some tickets available there that aren't online.

We're not members but usually can get tickets if we're fast enough or if we try the above and get lucky.

Yes there are "Subscriber Seats!" (2017 - 2018 Subscription Packages) You pay for seats in whatever section you prefer and get tickets to 5 or so shows over the next year. You can select Opera, Theater, Dance, National Symphony Orchestra, etc.

In an event to bring on new subscribers, in 2015 the Kennedy Center announced Hamilton was coming in the 2018 season. As a result subscriptions that include Hamilton are no longer available.

According to that link (and a click on "Theater"), there are packages available that include Hamilton.

Yes, I didn't know about that! But, it appears that the only "package" that includes Hamilton is the "Full Season Subscription", meaning you are buying tickets for everything. This package isn't even priced, you have to call to talk to someone. The partial season subscriptions do not include Hamilton.
