I saw a vulture today! I didn't know they were in the area (I looked it up and there are two types in NOVA). I was on the road that runs parallel w/Rt. 1 (not sure of the name off-hand) near the intersection where if you came out of the Walmart, etc. parking area straight across to the bank.... Anyway, traffic had stopped dead because the vulture was in the road grabbing a body of a dead something...... it hopped off to the side of the road w/the thing in its' mouth.. This was a first for me.

I can't believe you've never seen one. Unless you have never, not once, been out of Alexandria or down to the river.

I've never seen one either. Not here, Hampton Roads, North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, or Arkansas. Just hope they don't like dark meat, then I'm safe.

In Ashburn, they are very common, see them almost every day. Had one on the roof this morning (which was better than the neighbor having 5, because they are loud).

Used to see them all the time on Hayfield Road just up from the high school. Not sure maybe the nearby water source or abundant dead stuff!

This one didn't look like those - it was the typical type that you'd see in cartoons, etc. - w/the bent/crooked neck.

Used to see them all of the time on the top floor of my Herndon office building. They would sit on the ledge and stare at you through the window!
