I watched that and yes, the old post office fits it to a tee. Sad part about the buildings in Gary is that they are all still standing and believe it or not structurally sound (Palace Theatre, Union Station, Memorial Auditorium). It's a quality current buildings really just can't match. Everyone in the region knows they're there and everyone talks about what it would be like to bring those structures back to their former glory, no one wants to step up. The last building refurbed was the old bathing house now known as the Acquatorium and the place is gorgeous. You can google aquatorium weddings and see some great shots. It also has views like this from the second story, Chicago Skyline from Aquatorium | Flickr - Photo Sharing!. Say what you want, outside of Indiana Dunes, Marquette Park is the best park in the region.

All these people can laugh but Gary in 5-7 years will be a great city and you won't recognize it. Just stay out of the areas from 12th street to downtown.I know first hand, so the information I gave you is accurate. Good Luck!
It's been just seven months short of five years since this post was made. Has there been any improvement in Gary?

Call it Chicago-Lake Airport, problem solved.

Gary is in worse shape than Detroit, and it is not ever coming back. Don't be fooled.

Well, that seals it -- the completion of Gary's revival is nigh at hand!

I'd like the place to get back on its feet but it's difficult to see how that will happen any time in the foreseeable future.
