Ohio's richest man Lex Wexner, the L Brands founder with a $6.1 billion net worth, according to Forbes, has officially abandoned the Republican Party, becoming an independent.

<<Wexner, the CEO of retail conglomerate L Brands, which owns Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works, announced at a leadership summit in Columbus on Thursday that he “won’t support this nonsense in the Republican Party” anymore, The Columbus Dispatch reported.>>

Les Wexner renounces Republican Party affiliation after Obama stops in Columbus - News - The Columbus Dispatch - Columbus, OH

https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus...of-worlds.html

Wexner is a strong benefactor of Israel and Jewish causes, and apparently wasn't happy with the Republican Party's flirtation if not tolerance of racist and Nazi groups.

As an independent, Wexner likely will continue to make campaign contributions to moderate Republicans.

It would have been a great civic contribution if Wexner had detailed his objections to Republican policy, especially if his dissatisfaction extends beyond President Trump and his administration.

This is likely, because according to Politico (see end of the following article), Wexner has contributed to only a single political candidate this year -- a Republican Congressional candidate who represents Columbus -- and to neither of the Republican candidates for governor or U.S. Senate.

Israel is thrilled with Trump and the Republicans, but they don't have a neo-Nazi movement in Israel.

But trump and the republicans support the huge Nazi movement sweeping the u.s.

The u.s. has had a neo nazi movement for decades.

Since trump is supporting them, what are the u.s. neo nazis numbers since he took office. I would expect them to growing by the day.

Perhaps because the entire story is fake news, or agitprop. And just because you're rich doesn't mean you're smart, this dupe has fallen for it.

Funny, did Obama make him an offer he couldn't refuse?

Trump is the best friend Israel has had since RWR.

Nobody who knows anything about Les Wexner would call the man dumb or a "dupe."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Wexner

Thinking about it, Trump's tariff wars likely will hurt Wexner's retail empire, greatly dependent on imports of cheap apparel.

Opposition to Trump and Republicans, especially given their appalling environmental record, certainly isn't falling for anything.

I am truly perplexed why anybody who has taken the time to examine the existing trends supported by empirical data, let alone the rapidly increasing threats to our environment posed by man-made climate change, would support Trump and Republicans regardless of their positions on anything else. Man-made climate change deniers and obfuscators are literally a threat to humanity, let alone the beauty and sustainability of the rest of the planet.

See the following two threads for a discussion of the impact of man-made climate change, including the destruction of oceanic marine life, the deforestation of the western U.S., and certainly the inundation of large portions of Florida and the East Coast within several decades.

Increasingly, Ohioans are seeing hundreds of billions of federal funds diverted away from states like Ohio to fund climate change-exacerbated disaster recoveries from western wildfires to more destructive hurricanes. Increased federal debt used to fund recoveries from the impact of man-made climate change in the most hard-hit states just represents borrowing from future generations of Ohioans. Sadly, many of the areas targeted by the federal spending are likely doomed in the next several decades.

Wexner, who is very family oriented, likely also is well aware of the environmental catastrophe being greatly exacerbated by Donald Trump as he promotes increased fossil fuel consumption. If so, I wish he would speak out, as have other corporate leaders.

yes, surely Israel must be concerned. His dog whistles are common knowledge. Probably just saving face publicly I would assume.

Eureka. Of course Wexner, if true, is pulling this stunt now and manipulating Charlottesville as the reason.

Let’s see: Charlottesville is August 2017. Trump tariffs arrive in mid 2018 or so. Wexner not backing trump in sept 2018 because of Charlottesville.

And you think this is about Wexner’s concern about the environment? It’s Wexner and he’s only concerned about his wallet-environment and its health.

While Wexner may not be dumb, he sure thinks all of us are

If you believe in the massive con of globaloney warming by that big con artist algore, and you call the people who have science on our side "deniers," you have taken the uber-left agitprop hook, line, and sinker.

It's nothing less than a conspiracy to turn over power. All federal agencies have been turned into propaganda mills, NASA among them.

I know you will never believe that, too bad. You're wrong every way possible. Enjoy the Kewl Aid.

Wait, you really believe Al Gore invented global warming? You definitely do not have science on your side. Is the Earth flat too?
