In regards to this particular thread?

I pushed for years to get a South Central PA regional sub-forum created. The area of Harrisburg, Lebanon, Carlisle, York, and Lancaster is very interconnected/interdependent, and it made perfect logical sense to create such a sub-forum. It was denied. A Harrisburg sub-forum was created and is now often dead. There has been a lot of buzz lately about Lancaster, but there's still no Lancaster sub-forum either. I really don't think they'll create a Mahoning Valley sub-forum because I was told back then "no more regional sub-forums will be created". I also don't see the level of activity on here to justify a Youngstown sub-forum.

This is coming from a Mahoning Valley booster, by the way. We love day-tripping in your area.

There are quite a few of us regular posters from our area. I believe we can keep it jumping
if they just give us the chance. Call it Youngstown, call it whatever but we need this part
of our state covered.

I grew up in Youngstown and now live out of state. I come back to the Ohio forum from time to time to see what's new. I agree with the others who say there simply isn't enough going on in the Mahoning Valley to warrant its own subforum.

It's not like the area is booming with a big influx of people looking to move there. You occasionally see a thread about someone wanting to move there for the extremely low cost-of-living or a new business taking advantage of cheap real estate, but that's about it. There isn't a lot going on there and the area continues to lose population each year.

I think the few Youngstown-specific topics are fine to stay in the main Ohio forum. It's a fairly quiet forum in general, so the Youngstown topics aren't getting lost in the shuffle. The first page of the Ohio Forum has threads that haven't seen any action in two months.

While I also don't think there's a need for a ytown sub-forum, I don't agree with your reasoning. Akron-Canton, Dayton and Toledo fall in the same category, and they each have their own sub-forum.

Fair point. I don't know if those subforums were created when this site launched, or if they were added later, but I'd argue that there isn't a need for any of them either.

Out of curiosity, I checked those subforums. They all only have 11-12 threads with posts made in 2020. Including this thread, there are only 2 Youngstown/MV-specific threads with posts from this year.

If anything, add Youngstown to the Akron-Canton subforum to make it more of a NE Ohio (outside of Cleveland) forum. But in reality, I think it'd be best to merge all of those Akron-Canton, Dayton and Toledo topics into the main Ohio forum.

I know that the Dayton subforum was added after the site started and it did have more activity at one time but now forums like this are so 2005 with facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, instagram and YouTube being the place everyone seems to go anymore.

I may be one of the last Dayton area people left beside another in Springfield that posts regularly.

I believe adding this additional category would enhance this site. That would be a good thing considering all of the different social media outlets.

SteelCity, I really believe you would like it here! Also, I think you are wrong. I am also a booster of Mahoning. Both have more of what you want than Luzerne ever will. Was Scranton in a different county? I forget. BOTH are very different from NEPA. Really different demographic and mindset.

Don't forget Trumbull County. Warren is really up and coming and has so much of the openness and verve that you (and I) sought in vain, in NEPA. SSR - it just isn't there...

The NEPA forum has declined in traffic since a certain poster known under a couple of names, has left. He was a relentless bully and was the reason so many people left the NEPA sub-forum. He tried following us here. It did not work.

I disagree with you. People do not post because there isn't any place to do that. Simple.

No highway, no traffic. "Build it and They Will Come".

A few of us are frequent posters. I'll speak for my self, but if there were a place to post - I WOULD post more. Sometimes you don't exactly know where your post belongs. This happens to me quite a lot.

SSR, crossing state lines to actually live, is legal. I am still a Newbie,(of seven years) but any time you are here, I'd like to show you around! This summer would be great. We love the Trumbull Country Club and are members, We'd be happy to tke you and your partner to lunch, dinner a a day at the poor and use of the gym.

we relly do need a fora. Perhaps more than NEPA does.
