Moving to Ohio and looking at homes online. The area we are moving to has a 10' setback from the property lines for structures such as shops. It also has to be 60' from the residence.

I just saw one with the detached structure on the property line or inches from it. This was in a residential neighborhood, lot size was a little over 1/2 acre.

During change of ownership, is the new owner responsible/obligated to bring the structure up to code?

I know when I last looked at homes in our state, the owner was. Whether that meant getting permits or tearing it down.
