If you own a house in Ohio, about how many days do you have to shovel snow a year to be able to drive, if you get 20-40 inches of snow?

Here's the snow map of Ohio by the way:

I'm in the 20" zone and clear my driveway about five times a year on average. Will be doing it for the first time later today.
Let me clarify that I'm obsessive about keeping the driveway clear, and that most of the time we could probably get vehicles in and out if I didn't clear the driveway.

If you are willing to work on small engines, you can usually pick up a snow blower that doesn't run for free or very little money, which is what I did decades ago. Still using the same old snowblower that I picked up for free and brought back to life.

I see that you live in the Cincinnati area, a less than 20'' zone.
Did you experience any tornadoes before?

There have been tornadoes, but they are not common. At least, not as common as say the central U.S.

This was in Worthington, OH. I think it was the last Saturday in January, 2008, after the third session of clearing the driveway that day, that I told Mrs Buckeye to call Delta. What for, she asked. We're going to Florida, I said. Why? We're gonna buy a house.

And we did.

I think we had about 22" of snow that day.

For the 3 times a year (if that) that it justifies shoveling a drive in Cincinnati, you can pay someone $50 to shovel it each time.

Have to shovel maybe 2 or 3 when I lived in NE Ohio. Want to shovel because there are a few inches? As often as you want. Few snows have to be shoveled to be able to get out of your driveway.

Depends on the driveway. Mine goes down into a basement garage. Life became much easier once I started buying AWD vehicles. I still try to keep it clean in order to avoid ice buildup. Depending on the winter, I can spend a significant amount of time clearing the driveway. I'm mostly out of the snow-belt, so I average 30"-35" inches a year of snow.

Once I got 4WD the answer was mainly zero.

I have a snowblower (I'll call it a gas-powered shovel) - so I do "shovel" now more than I used to. But if you're asking
how many times you can expect to be absolutely STUCK in the garage unless someone removes the snow - assuming you have a "normal" length driveway....eh, maybe zero? 2 or 3 times each year, last 5 years, has there even been enough to warrant blowing it - but once last year, we got almost 20" overnight. Truck was fine, car needed the snow blower.

Not sure why you're asking - but - mainly, not very often, is the answer.

I'm in the 80"-90" level....this year so far I've had to shovel my driveway twice but neither had a lot

Typical winter it's about 10-12 times (but sometime 2-3 times during each snowstorm)
