Looks like the original poster of this thread never came back. I wonder if he and his girlfriend have changed their minds about moving to Omaha after all?

Hello there,

Welcome to the Forums, first of all. Since you're a first-time poster, may I suggest that you create a new thread and ask your question again. This particular thread was regarding moving from Hawaii and I see you're looking to move from Massachusetts (Boston?). Chances are you may get a quicker response from the Omaha posters.

I'm wary of states like the People's Republic of Kalifornia. I like places I guess like Texas, though I've never been there. But I hear people actually think for themselves there.

Very Perceptive! My thoughts as well.

Hello,
I noticed that you seem pretty knowledgeable of the hunting, fishing, and shooting in NE. My husband and I are considering moving and Omaha or Lincoln are on our list of options (we also are thinking Westminster, CO). We are originally from PA and currently live in southern KY. We are looking for somewhere that is a big enough city to support my husbands work with Mercedes Benz, but small enough that we can live in a rural area. Could you please respond to my thread at https://www.city-data.com/forum/omaha...a-lincoln.html ? Thanks!

If two or three of you pool expenses that would be a fairly cheap weekend. McCook is smack dab in the middle of some of the best hunting and fishing in the MidWest. The ONLY HANGUP to this scenario is that some of the gun control crowd is trying to get legislation passed in Congress to PROHIBIT guns from being carried in luggage on AMTRAK. But so far it is legal to have firearms in checked in luggage. There are several public shooting ranges in Omaha and several indoor ranges. Concealed Carry permits are available in Nebraska but you can carry openly anywhere in the State except for some areas like schools, courts etc. Read up on the gun laws before you arrive.
