We're in the process of cleaning out my elderly mother's condo in Placentia, CA (Zip Code 92870).

Salvation Army used to send trucks out to pick up donations, but they no longer do that in our zip code. Does anyone know of any non-profits that still come to collect donations of household goods & furnishings?

Their website says you can schedule a pick-up (which is what we're looking for), but it says this: "Pickup services are fee-based"

I guess that means you have to pay them to come pick up your "donation".

They likely want to discourage folks who want pick-up service for items that could be easily dropped-off at a donation center. Keep in mind the costs of trucks, fuel, insurance (and drivers).

They’re a waste management company; it is not a free service. The more you have, the more it will cost. The OP would be better off paying a nominal fee to OC Goodwill, if applicable, unless they have a lot of worthless junk/garbage Goodwill wouldn’t take.
