Moving from NCAL so anyone who love their mover let us know who they are. Thanks in advance.

Good luck. I've never had a moving company that didn't break things and even lose things. So I have no one to recommend.

Our last move back to the Pacific Northwest I used ABF Freight which I think is now called Upack: https://www.upack.com/

They deliver a full size semi trailer to your property. You load it and pack it as you wish and then lock it up with your own padlock. And they haul and deliver it to your destination where you unpack.

It was about 1/2 the price of regular movers. I rounded up some friends to help at each end and all went smoothly. It is a lot more work to pack all your own boxes and load them. But it gave us a chance to sort through our stuff and get rid of about half of it before moving. Instead of paying movers lots of money to pack up junk that you are going to throw out anyway. We bought moving boxes and packing material from U-Haul and Home Depot and it was a LOT cheaper than what the regular movers will charge you for each box. We also rented stacks of padded moving blankets from U-haul which you can do without actually renting a truck from them. And bought a fancy hand cart from Costco for loading and unloading the trailer.

Lots more sweat involved compared to hiring regular movers. But I was very happy with the results and didn't lose or damage a single thing.

Most people use Blue Box or PODS these days. You can hire movers on either end to load and unload them for you.

Our last move we used PODS. There was only one problem there was no way to get the container into our driveway. It was too long and no way for the truck to get in and drop it. Just the way the roadway was set up. We hired movers to help unload which was nice. I did almost all the loading. My daughter helped me quite a bit and hubby helped with large items.
