Hi.
I'd love to live on right on the coast but can't afford Newport right now. So expensive, nothing for sale, no rentals. Curious about Toledo since it's super close.
Good and bad about Toledo?
Toxic air and toxic odor from paper mills? Hard to find current info on line.
Thanks everyone.

It tends to run about 10 degrees warmer and less fog than right on the coast, which is not a bad thing.

I've néver noticed a mill stink, but the mill is lit up bright as day at night. You might want to be out of the line of sight if you have trouble sleeping.

Lots of the streets are lined with wild filberts which is a plus if you like filberts.

Adding, since they straightened the road to Corvallis, it is faster and more pleasant to get into Corvallis for shopping, although shopping in Newport is pretty good.

I agree about the good shopping in Newport. For a town that size with a WalMart and Fred Meyer there are still a lot of small mom and pop type stores. Usually in towns that size the big boys have eliminated all the small guys.
