Heck, if you know you want 1 month+, the weather won't matter as much as the the onslaught of others campers wanting the same thing once the reservation systems open. Maybe private is more negotiable even if a but more pricey.

Aren't there also limits in state campgrounds on how long you can be there? Two weeks or something like that?

Yes, it's 14 days out of a 17 day period. From the Oregon State Parks websites FAQ: https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=visit.faq

How long can I stay in a campground?
You can stay 14 consecutive nights in a regular campsite, yurt or cabin in a single campground, and may return after spending at least three nights out of the park (it can be another state park campground; in fact, we recommend you DO select another state park campground). The maximum time allowed within any campground is 14 nights within any 17-night period. The maximum stay for hiker/biker sites is 3 consecutive days in a 7 day period, per campground.

I think a lot of folks do the 14 nights, even if they have to go home during the middle of a week. They just leave the RV in the spot, drive back to Portland, Eugene, etc., and come back to the RV when they can. Or, they leave the spouse and kids in the RV and go home for work.
