Hi!

I've gone through many threads discussing the best neighbourhoods in Ottawa; however, some of them seem a bit old. Does anyone have newer information on good neighbourhoods? I know Westboro and The Glebe continue to be desirable, but how about some areas that were previously seen as bad/unsafe. I was looking at some listings and saw many new condos built on Rideau and Besserer. Do these streets remain unsafe? Also, is Eastway Gardens a bad area? I did a bit of research and read there was a homicide there only last month.

Thanks in advance for any responses - it's much appreciated!

Hi, I've been in Ottawa for 7 years and I rent instead of own. I have been keeping updated as far as possible on neighbourhoods should I one day feel ready to buy. I think pretty much a google search on safe neighbourhoods for buying (and renting) would lead you in the best direction. It all depends on your preferred living conditions, need for transit, need to share expenses with a roommie, desire to be downtown or be in the peace of the suburbs etc. Rideau and Besserer do seem to remain the same as nothing has changed as rapidly in this city. Sorry I do not know Eastway Gardens so hopefully those who do can share their views.

Thanks so much for the response! I have been researching online but I thought someone could share additional information. I am looking to rent with plans to buy the following year. Thanks again!
