I currently live in montreal but will be moving permanatly to ottawa next month. My residence (apartment) and work will be in the ottawa area so i will be paying ontario income tax.
1) can i use my quebec drivers licence or will i need to get an ontario one
2) can i setup car insurance in quebec (using my parents home address in quebec) while driving in ontario ??? I will be commuting back to quebec every week to visit family.
3) will i need to get an onatrio health-care card or can i use my quebec health card.
4) for apartments in ottawa does one always have to get liability insurance ?? any idea how much it costs.
Since you're a canadian citizen, you have 60 days to change your Quebec plate for your car to an Ontario one. You will need to pass a car inspection since you car is from another province.
For your licence, you just exchange it. Car insurance is more costly in Ontario but you'll pay less income taxes.
For the health card, yoy keep yours from Quebec for 90 days and after that your Ontario one will kick in. You also just exchange it.
