I have a therapist, who is finally convinced me I should at least tell my husband how I have been feeling.

I do exercise regularly, plus I enrolled at the university to finish my Masters and I joined a Women's Business group on campus to meet people.

If me or my husband were transferred somewhere this would not be an issue. Then my son just has to move. But as stated I AM THE ADULT and I'm trying to make the best decision for my son.

Unfortunately if we did move it wouldn't be for about 2 years or more(I'm preg with #2 and I need to finish off this degree)

Thanks for the kind words - they really do help

Although I do think you need to take your children into consideration in regard to where to live, I don't think you need to sacrifice yourself in the process. Having a happy mom will be much better for your children than living in a good neighborhood. I hope you feel better soon.

CityGirl, have you found that your depression has worsened with the pregnancy? I was so blue when I was pregnant with #2. Maybe talk to your OB?

The last time I lived in WA I felt like I was going into depression, too. It's all the gray I think! I didn't have a choice but to move, so I didn't quite have to stand in your shoes. As you stated, you have two options here. Since you're already in WA, could you do more to try to get through it? My husband's grandmother lost her husband, and her first daughter. They were basically the only two people that she really adored. Every single day this 83-year-old woman gets dressed up (jewelry and all), drives herself to different stores and walks around for two hours a day. She realized that if she didn't pick herself up, no one else would. Have you tried meetup.com (I think it's .com) to find groups near you? Last time we visited we went to Mars Hill Church in Seattle. It was really solid and the childcare seemed the safest I've ever seen.

I agree with stellar9, you don't want to make a decision while you feel depressed.

You know, I just thought to add that the last time a doctor wanted to give me depression meds we later found that my prolactin was high. I'd ask your doctor to check all of your hormones, your prolactin, thyroid, and possibly your ovaries (cysts on them can make you feel out of control).

Everyone's right, Citygirl - being pregnant certainly magnifies problems that's for sure...I was depressed too while pregnant with my last child, I thought it was because I had just emigrated and was missing my family back in the UK. Anyway, I know now that it was diet - related. I have since (although this has taken along time - years infact..) removed all dairy products and take probiotics (called Threelac) - this is for a yeast infection. Also I was addicted to all things sugary and this just completely exacerbates the yeast overgrowth because the bad bacteria feed on the sugar!!! A yeast infection can make you feel grumpy and down - lacking in get up and go and just depressed in general. Anti-biotics as well destroy the good bacteria in the gut allowing the bad to take over and this is the beginning of the infection. Avoid all antibiotics if at all possible.

I had forgotten that the OP was pregnant again.
Pre-natal depression is something to take seriously. Women who are depressed during pregnancy have a higher incidence of Post-Partum Depression. Make sure your OB knows about this.

You also mentioned that you get sick all the time. Being sick frequently, being cold, not having friends, being pregnant, going to school, taking care of your son...
You have a very full plate and deserve a pat on the back (and probably a nice long foot massage).
