When is certain behavior no longer child play?
My grandson was recently on holiday by us, he's from London.
Over the three weeks he visited, many a time he was roomed up with a friend from the local vicinity. While the door was usualy locked, and should I listen there was usualy hushed or low voices on the other side, was I correct to avoid discussion and not insisting that he leave the door unlocked?

Regardless, I would have insisted the door be kept open and certainly not locked at all times, except for perhaps when he sleeps at night (alone).
You need to clearly set out the rules for your house and tell him what you expect. You can also ask him why he needs to be locked in with his friend...depending on his age it could be a number of things, some innocent and some not so innocent. Good luck!
How old is he?? The door should stay ajar and he needs to know that these are the rules - whether he 5 or 18.
