Megabus recently announced they are greatly expanding their services to and from Philadelphia, making Philadelphia its second Northeast hub. Effective July 21st, Megabus will start new service on a Philadelphia-Harrisburg-State College-Pittsburgh route. It will also expand service on its existing Philadelphia-Washington route, adding service to Baltimore along the route, and start new services on the following routes:

*Philadelphia-Atlantic City
*Philadelphia-Boston
*Philadelphia-Syracuse-Buffalo-Toronto

The announcement is obviously good news for many Pennsylvania residents. Not only does Philadelphia get greatly expanded Megabus service, but Megabus adds to its service in Pittsburgh and State College (which just received Megabus service in early May) and begins serving Harrisburg for the first time. From a Pennsylvania perspective, I can see the Philadelphia-Harrisburg-State College segment being well-patronized and I'd expect the Pittsburgh-State College segment, which is already being served, to expand its ridership.

Just to clarify - Pittsburgh and State College to/from Philly are two different routes while they are combined on the NYC they are the end points for the Philly - Harrisburg trips with Harrisburg being the mid-stop on all trips to and from Philly.

DC and Chicago will start going to the burgh as well soon. Making Pittsburgh the transfer point between East Coast and Mid-West Buses...
