For a 3/2 or 4/2 home in the area in a X-zone, what does home flood/insurance cost per year? Do you expect another 25% increase for your renewal? Thanks

We paid about $2,000/year for general homeowner’s through AAA. 3/2/2 built in 1982 and with windstorm credits for hurricane clips in the roof trusses and new roof in 2018 but not maxed out on the credits for all windows and doors protected. We skip the flood insurance because we’re 40+ feet above sea level and on very sandy soil and if you go like a half block south of us, there’s a nice 15+ foot slope downward so even when we get 20+ inches of rain in 36 hours, (spring stalled thunderstorm front a bout 10-15 years back) only one corner of the yard gets a little swampy.

Not sure what the increase will be at renewal in December but expect there will be another couple hundred in taxes, or I think I’m supposed to call them ‘user fees’ in order to bail out the state high risk reinsurance pool. Again.

Have you gotten a 25% annual increase in the past? Most policies are limited to an 18% annual increase.
