I've checked these type of things in the past without success, but this weekend, I entered my name into my state's link on this site- Unclaimed.org - and found that there is $50 waiting for me from my health insurance company.

Have you ever received unclaimed money? This is a first for me.

Yes, came up with $4,400, wages due and a mutual fund investment, from my husband, who died 7 years ago.

Just now? Or sometime in the past?

That must have been a nice surprise!

I found money for my step-grandmother, that could only be claimed by my step-sister--she never did. Then I found money for a friend--a fairly large amount--who complains constantly about being so broke and running out of food. I even printed out everything for him to make the claim. He never did.

I have a loser brother who has money due from his wife that passed away (even though they had just gotten divorced, his name was still payable) - he didn't bother investigating it and would rather bum money from mom, other brother, the "system", etc.

Got a whole $23 from Colorado last year. Several cousins, and ex-employers, have money coming too, but too lazy to claim it.

This all came about last year. Did require all kinds of paperwork as he died in 2007.

I just learned that I'm owed $0.88. Not worth the paperwork.
