Hi everyone!
I stumbled upon this Forum and thought to give it a shot if it would give me some answers to my questions My husband and I just recently moved to Philadelphia area. We like it here, however I have started wondering if there are any fellow Finnish/Scandinavians living in the region? We are fairly new to this place so we don't know much about anyone or anything It would be nice to know if there are any Scandinavians out there! Any suggestions are helpful.

Thanks

Don't know of any but I think it's really cool to have more Scandanavians in the area! What do you think of Philadelphia in particular and America in general? Interested to know if there are any myths about us perpetrated back home that you have found to be untrue.

Welcome to the area!

Although I don't know of any specific places where you might find fellow Finnish ex-pats, this group may point you in the right direction:

Finnish American Society

Good luck!

Welcome! Our daughter-in-law is Finnish-- she and our son live in Helsinki. So we have a lot of affection for all things Finnish.

I stumbled upon a cute little shop in Swarthmore called "Finlandia," owned by a very nice Finnish lady. She might be able to help you meet other Finns.

Good luck!

Fun fact: Philadelphia was originally settled by the Swedes, and was part of New Sweden before being conquered first by the Dutch, then by the English (then again by the English during the Revolutionary War)... not the same thing I know.
