Just moved out to Springfield Pa in Delco. Can anyone tell me what the loud horn is that sounds like a dying cow? We heard it at 7pm tonight. It doesn't sound like your typical fire department siren. My 2 year old thinks it's chewbacca yelling.

It is the fire siren to gather the fire company volunteers.

Thanks for the info. It does sound more
Like a Wookiee call or a dying cow then your typical fire station siren to notify the volunteers.

Funny. I heard that sound for years and wondered what it is.

I have a friend who lives out that way. Guess it was just far enough to not hear it. Wow.

I used to hear it all the time when I was in college in DelCo. It is one of the most irritating sounds I've ever heard.

We have a volunteer station in Havertown (Bon Air) that sounds like a fog horn. For the longest time, every time I heard it I'd wonder how it was that I could hear ships on the Delaware from my house in Havertown. Lol.
