Who in this thread has done it before? I’m assuming I might to have to do it myself the reverse way (NYC to Philly). Anyone have any idea of time and cost?

My cousins live in Philly and usually on a nice day from south Brooklyn to North east it will take me like an hour and a half to drive there!

If you even wanted to consider this drive regularly at rush hour (reverse is better) I would also consider JC

but it would be a grind

the new PA turnpike to 95 link will help for NE Philly by car (depending if far NE)

I routinely drive up to North Jersey for work, JC even and its not awful usually but when bad its really bad

I think your morning would be far easier than trying to get back into BK in the evening ( you will probably fly to half way across SI then just sit

Nice but I think I might move there if I find a position there cause I can easily go to NYC and see my parents every weekend!

The tolls round-trip is like $40. Verrazano by itself is ~$12 and Goethals like ~$10. I have an NY EZ-Pass with PA plated car. I understand the rents and cost of living is increasing out of control, but yea if you can find a job in Philly where the costs are much lower, that would be ideal IMO.

I have to say these are the most 'laid back' comments I've ever seen on commuting to NYC.
Usually most people say it's a grueling, insane thing to do.

For about a week I thought about applying for a job in NYC...when at least I thought the job was in Midtown.
But then I found out the job was down by Battery Park....ugh. (And it only paid about 57K.)

Amtrak is $1,400 a month....then add on the parking cost at 30th street -- and the cost of getting from Penn Station in NYC down to Battery Park. I never even considered driving.

A close friend commutes from Mount Airy to Trenton -- and says THAT's a grind.
For the right money I might do Philly to NYC...but ....I didn't apply this time......

I would get an airBB or apt in NYC for during the week.

Yeah., you would've used at least $22k of your annual salary on the commute alone. Not worth it.

Airbnb's are illegal in NYC.

It’s not doable. Pick your poison: sitting in the tunnel traffic, and then the N.J. turnpike traffic for hours during rush hour (while spending money on gas and tolls. Or burn a hole in your wallet by taking the train everyday.
