I'm sorry your having scorpion issues. Perhaps you live in an area that was rife with citrus in the past. I hear those spots are hotbeds for scorpions. Just depends on where you are. My uncle lived out here for 6 years in the 70s and moved back in 2000. He's seen one scorpion and it was dead. Also one tarantula on the Apache Trail.
We live in Anthem. The Safeway is on Anthem Way. Our house is right up on the desert so I'm not all that surprised about the critters. The Safeway's more in the middle of town though. I do think the rain brought them out.

The chemicals that Burns Pest Control uses will actually kill scorpions. And Home Depot off i17 and Carefree actually see a giant yellow jug that just says KILLS SCORPIONS. I live in Anthem and I used to have them really bad in our house. I started having Burns come once a month and I also would spray using that jug from Home Depot. We haven't seen as many scorpions this year as we normally have in the past. Plus we got a cat which Im sure is helping keep them out of our house as well.

I killed my 6th one yesterday. I've lived here for a year. My 13 month old walked into the kitchen and it startled her and she was about a foot away from picking it up when I walked in behind her. Talk about a heart attack. My first one was literally days after we moved here and my cat luckily attacked it before I stepped on it in the laundry room. She was stung and was fine after a long nap. My house is near an agricultural area so that's the likely reason we see as many as we do. We treat for bugs and that helps, but I always know when it's time to spray again because I'll see a scorpion. It seems as though most people don't see them as often but it's unpredictable.

I haven't even closed on my house yet and already ran into a tarantula sitting by the front door. I relocated it to the back of the property. I hope it doesn't become a frequent visitor when I move in.

We've been getting them really bad up here this year in Las Vegas. KSNV News Clip When I lived on the east side of the valley used to find them quite often but never got stung. Here at our new house on the west side of the valley I haven't seen one yet, but yet its much more rural and open (not built up). Our landscaper puts down something called "diatomaceous earth" around the house about once a month during the summer. I have no idea what it is exactly but he says scorpions hate it and kills them. Knock on wood, I haven't had a problem with them.

Well we had our first casualty. My wife got stung on Saturday.
She was uncomfortable and in pain for the rest of the day but no lasting effects after that.

I walked out the door last night and saw a huge hairy scorpion on my porch. I haven't seen any little barks here yet which I'm very happy about. This guy was scavenging around my front yard, almost the size of a small bird. He ran off pretty fast.
I know a tarantula is coming any day now. I'll have to learn scorpion whispering and tell them to go next door. lol

I don't mind the huge ones, just don't like the small house ones. My old house had them inside, I got really tired of it really quick like. Sprayed a lot, used the D earth and it took care of most of them. I'm glad I moved on out of there. I moved into a new build in the desert. Black lighted all the way through construction and never found a scorpion. The big guy I saw looked like he was just running around the neighborhood. I hope anyway.

I was wondering if the people that have them practice any kind of pest control? I always heard to kill their food supply.
