Some of you who may have lived here all your life or for a long time, may know a lot about him already. But some of the little nuggets he revealed was really interesting and intriguing.

Jerry Colangelo is one of a kind, and we need more like him. One thing that was mentioned in the interview: he came from Chicago, which is a city enriched in its sports teams, and he brought a big part of the Chicago sports culture to Phoenix. We have him to thank for why Phoenix became a city with all 4 major sports franchises. Very much unlike the typical Midwestern transplant who came to Arizona mainly for weather & retirement. Jerry actually helped lift Phoenix away from that in many ways with his determination to make Phoenix into a real city. I remember he was met with a fair amount of resentment from NIMBYs, but he did what he knew was best for the city's future, and became a true legend as a result.

Very good interview, I didn't know he came from Chicago. And to hear the history behind that and how he was determined to make Phoenix a first-class city. Definitely not enough of his types around.
