Cut, paste, repeat. See the list of MN https://www.twincities.com/mn-fortune-500-companies/ Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Xcel Energy, Supervalu (food chain retailer), U.S. Bancorp, United Healthcare (similar to Blue Cross Blue Shield).

Next, let's pick on Miami. With 179 non-stop international destinations! https://www.miami-airport.com/librar...s%20Served.pdf Florida has 23 Fortune 500 companies. And that gets divided up into these international Florida airports:

Tampa International Airport.
Saint Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
Melbourne International Airport.
Orlando International Airport.
Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
Southwest Florida International Airport.
Miami International Airport.
Cooley's Tampa Bay Campus.

In the Miami area, 5, fortune 500 companies exist.
They are:
160. Lennar (Miami), $16.4 billion
192. Office Depot (Boca Raton), $12.1 billion
205. World Fuel Services (Miami), $11.3 billion
212. AutoNation (Fort Lauderdale), $11 billion
426. Ryder System (Miami), $5 billion
Are those "international?" Nope!

i.e., proximity trumps Fortune 500 companies. Most international direct flights are on the coasts. In summary, PHX should celebrate another direct international flight. It's kind of a big deal. Once you get to France, it is a great hub for getting you all around the world. I hope it sticks year round!

Let's be grateful for any international destination added. Plus, we really have enormous potential here compared to any other US metro area. This is going to be exciting!

Fly their own partners sometime..Korean, KLM, etc. I have long hauled with Korean numerous times...every aspect of the flights were better than Delta. Got an ear full on the hotel shuttle from a KLM customer, who had been lied to and cheated by Delta.

Florida has a very reliable year round tourism industry because of Disney, Universal, Epcot, Kennedy Space Center, Sea World, Busch Gardens, South Beach, etc. Most of these attractions are well known on both a national & international level, and this pretty much compensates for their lack of global corporations. Also, plenty of inland cities have direct international flights, such as Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, and Chicago (which isn't considered coastal). It's mainly because these places have plenty of big companies OR big tourist attractions.

I've always thought Phoenix as a metro area has enormous potential, but it's not happening like it should. We tend to be slow moving despite being fast growing. Many people here seem to make a big deal out of a new White Castle location, a mega gas station, one new international flight, or one proposed highrise taller than the former Chase Tower. With our population numbers & growth rate, we should be far more advanced than this by now.

It is almost remarkable how far we lag behind the other largest metros

Phoenix Sky Harbor airport could offer $5 million for new nonstop international flight
By Christina Estes
Published: Wednesday, February 28, 2024 - 7:05am

In an effort to attract more international flights, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will ask city leaders to continue its financial incentive program.

The airport wants to offer up to $5 million to support new nonstop flights to unserved destinations like Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai, and Rome, Barcelona and Amsterdam.

Sky Harbor’s Lexi Van Haren told council members the FAA does not allow airlines to receive payments directly.

“We can offer fee waivers as well as marketing reimbursement dollars, and we can advise our economic and tourism partners,” she said.

Korea, would be a natural aerospace defense partner. Singapore and Malaysia worth mentioning. Qatar might be an easier fit. Japan has her heels dug deep into California....
