Still closed about halfway around Apache Lake. There is a project in the works to re-open the route but pretty sure it is still closed.

Indeed, the first time we did it we were just awestruck. I thank God that we now live in Arizona going on 14 years. It's an amazing state and we're proud to call it home. There are just so many places to see that it's hard to pick a favorite. But when asked the Apache Trail is the first place that comes to our minds.

Oh no I wasn't aware of that? Apparently it's been closed for over three years now. https://www.azcentral.com/story/trav...d/10592001002/

Good info Kurt. Since I haven't been to Apache Lake in a while, I was contemplating a run in that direction. Looks like I will stick with Saguaro Lake.

I enjoyed Ghost Ranch if you are an O'Keefe fan.

I can also recommend Meow Wolf in Santa Fe.

I liked Bandelier National Monument as well - very easy going.

I also enjoyed the tram outside of Phoenix.

Depending on where you live in Phoenix, Tucson is less than 100 miles away. Lots to do there.

I thought that road was closed at some point.

Update to my post...glad some posters clarified that it is still closed. Can you drive from the south end to the blockage and then turn around, and then go from the north end to the blockage and then turn around?
