The photo you enter in the "Show Us Your Best Shot" contest is any photograph which you took within 30 days of the date you submitted it.
To be able to stay on a monthly schedule, the last day for submitting entry photographs will be five days before the end of the month, ie, if the month ends on the 30th then photos must be submitted no later than the 25th. If the month ends on the 31st then photos must be submitted no later than the 26th. Etc...
There are 31 days in August 2012, so, entries will end on August 26th 2012.
The poll will be opened the day after last day for submitting entry photographs.
Only users who have been registered on City-Data over 30 days and who have at least one valid post may enter the contest or vote on the contest (Rule added Feb 3, 2012)
One photograph per contest and one vote per member.
All photographs must have been taken within 30 days of the date you submitted them.

The right star of the two bright stars near the top center parallel to the image edge
is Cygnus X1, a stellar black hole.
There are over 3,000 stars in this image.

This is a tough object to image. I have been trying to get it for nearly a year.
Finally got some decent exposures. I would have liked to have gotten more,
but alas the clouds rolled in on me.
