For those of you that have a reason to mount your printed photos on foam core board, how do you decide between black or white? Is there some type of unwritten rule to help you choose?

I tend to want to use black for everything but I'm thinking that is probably because I am used to seeing my online photos against a black background.

"Whichever looks better" won't work with me. I'm not even good at pairing clothes. I need something more direct like, "If it's X, do Y."

I go with whatever makes the pic stand out the best if that makes sense? I tend to use black foam board a lot as well as black frames and mats but that's my preference. Good luck!
