A study from University College London published this week in Current Biology has discovered that there are actually differences in the brains of liberals and conservatives. Specifically, liberals' brains tend to be bigger in the area that deals with processing complex ideas and situations, while conservatives' brains are bigger in the area that processes fear.
Liberal Brains Bigger in Areas of Complexity; Conservative Brains Bigger in Areas of Fear - Culture - GOOD

I don't think people should use this as a justification to attack conservatives. Fear can be a very useful emotion. It can prevent us from getting ourselves into bad situations. A healthy dose of fear is necessary in order to survive.

The truth is that we need both conservatives and liberals in order to have a healthy society. Without liberalism, nothing changes; without conservatism, nothing is preserved.

Well, there's a lot to fear from liberals, so it works out. This also explains why liberals' ideas are so convoluted.

If this data is true and liberals have larger brain areas for processing complex ideas and situations why can't modern liberals ever seem to solve a problem?

Sounds to me like liberalism really IS a mental issue. Don't hate us conservatives that have the brains to realize we shouldn't do stupid stuff.

I'm wondering why there are more conservatives and libertarians in engineering related majors which are considerably harder to earn degrees (especially at the Ph. D. level) than liberal art related majors.

Apparently Liberal brains can't remember jack because no matter how many times this same topic is brought up and debunked, they'll bring it up again in a few weeks as if they discovered something new.

That has a lot to do with the fact that the established leadership is liberal, and they tend to indoctrinate.

Very true, it also has something to do with the fact that an engineering degree is very useful while a liberal arts degree... well... you might as well be a community organizer.

Building a bridge that doesn't fall and kill people is a lot more important than the abstract painting that the liberal art majors put on the sides of the support beams.

You've basically just re-expressed an old bromide:
"Socialists ignore history."

Scientific proof to back up what I've always believed:

A Conservative is a Liberal who's been mugged.
