Charcoal Grilling May Pose Cancer Risks. Cooking on Charcoal Grills Adds to Air Pollution.
In Canada, charcoal is a restricted product under the Hazardous Products Act. According to the Canadian Department of Justice, charcoal briquettes in bags that are advertised, imported or sold in Canada must display a label warning of the potential hazards of the product
Barbecue grills can be problematic for two reasons. First, both charcoal and wood burn “dirty,” producing not only hydrocarbons but also tiny soot particles that pollute the air and can aggravate heart and lung problems. Secondly, the grilling of meat can form two kinds of potentially carcinogenic compounds: polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heterocyclic amines (HCAs). Charcoal Grills - Are Backyard Barbecues Bad for Your Health?
Death. By Hamburger. Man, I love BBQ, too.
Imagine if the USA banned grilling meat. Heh. It's bad for you, right? Like smoking. Maybe they could just slap a tax on the coals. For all the health related problems it causes. Just like smokes. If it makes sense for one, it should make sense for the other, right? I'm looking out my apartment right now, and I see .. about 12 grills. One of them's on the balcony outside my sliding glass door. Time to fire up the grill and destroy everyone's health. While I fire up my Marlboro Light.
California wants to ban smoking outside the house. I smoke outside my house 'cuz i don't want to kill my wife and kids with second hand smoke. I'm already the fool who got addicted. No sense killing them along with myself, heh. That's just evil, man. But, if that's evil... aren't grills evil too? You're just being evil to *anonymous person breathing the air" vs. "your family", right?
How often have you come across someone grilling in line outside of a concert/event or grilling in a no smoking zone?
I thought so, I've yet to hear of someone dying from second hand "grill smoke' .
Granted nowadays most smokers are respectful of others, but there are still those that don't care and will smoke in the car, home and other places with non smokers and little children around with no regards whatsoever.
It's the minority of rude smokers that ruin it for smokers that take steps to avoid bothering others.
Really? How many cases of cancer does it cause per capita vs smoking.
The adverse health effects from cigarette smoking account for an estimated 443,000 deaths, or nearly one of every five deaths, each year in the United States.2,3
More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.2,4
Smoking causes an estimated 90% of all lung cancer deaths in men and 80% of all lung cancer deaths in women.1
An estimated 90% of all deaths from chronic obstructive lung disease are caused by smoking.1
From the CDC. Feel free to post any similar statistics to grilling. That's not even touching on the costs to the health system of chronic long term diseases such as emphysema.
It's kind of like comparing apples to a rock you find on the ground outside. Of course, for the non-fringe tin foil hat wearing types this is all a no-brainer.
My mother-in-law mentioned this while we were at a BBQ place in Memphis. I pulled the biggest piece of charred meat from my rack of ribs and made mmmmmmm noises while I chewed on it.
If I'm going to go, death by BBQ doesn't sound that bad.

Of course you wouldn't want to know how they got their numbers, LOL.
This country needs to repeal everything Progressives have made law in this country.
This Utopia isn't working out very well.
Repealing the civil rights act, bring back slavery, woman can no longer vote, americans should get back to the coal mines working 80+ hours a week for next to no pay and no benefits. No child labor laws, If you get sick, die,..That does sound like a right wing utopia.

How is Obama a socialist? Or are you just throwing around programmed Beck/right wing propaganda catch words because they "sound scary"
