Suit alleges Chicago-area teacher duct taped student's face as punishment | Fox News

Hmmm.... Not sure which way to go on this. On one hand, I kinda agree, it's an excellent learning experience. On the other hand. I don't think duct tape was the way to go.

I had teachers growing up, that (back when spanking was common), bend you over in front of the class and let you have it. (painful AND embarrassing).

Wore the dunce cap. Had a desk kicked over while I was in it, (sleeping), and several other annoying or embarrassing things.

I and my classmates were not permanently damaged by these things.

I can understand what the teacher was doing and why, but Duct tape... that's a bit harsh.....

I went to Catholic school from K thru 4 and they taped kids mouth's shut with masking tape (for talking when you weren't suppose to be) sometimes.....sometimes several pieces as well. They made you walk around with it on your face so that other kids made fun of you. There were 3 nuns including the mother superior but, it was all the other teachers that did it. Some were extremely mean when it came to punishment. The priests were rarely if ever in the school.

Be nice to think it taught the kid a lesson, and that maybe he'd keep his annoying mouth shut in class so his peers could possibly learn something.
Instead, he learned if you annoy somebody long enough and they retaliate, chances are you hit the lottery.
This kid has a good chance of being part of Chicago's juvenile body count somewhere down the road in my opinion.
The fact that he'll see his family rake in the bucks for his misbehavior will help that along.
