Seems that Dubya has taken to painting these days and is singing its praises. That's just dandy, but maybe he should have considered the benefits of the arts when he cut these programs to pay for two wars and tax cuts for the wealthy.

George W. Bush As Artist: A Different Perspective | Francine Toder, Ph.D.

In his fiscal budget for the federal 2006-2007 year that commences on October 1, 2006, President Bush proposes to end 42 US Department of Education programs and significantly reduce spending for four other Education programs, for total budget cuts of $4.279 billion.

This article is a complete listing of those 46 programs, along with program descriptions per the US Department of Education website.

Cut...Arts in education, $35 million - development of programs designed to improve or expand arts education (music, art, theater, dance) in elementary or middle school curricula.

You should include the amount by which he bloated the military budget.

Govt. should not fund the arts, people who like the arts should fund the arts.

The Bush tax cuts led to record govt. revenues BTW. Obama wants four wars, he killed healthcare, killed the 40 hour work week, wrecked the economy, and has created the biggest income gap between wealthy and everyone else since the damage that followed fellow fascist Woodrow Wilson.

Bush was an average American President, but he sure does look exceptional compared to our nation's very worst President: Obama.

I'm confused, is Bush still president? What does this have to do with anything going on today?

Lol! When did he leave office? You can always tell when the left is having a bad couple days around here. They start threads to beat up on their two favorite boogeymen, Rush and GWB.

Yet another moronic thread created by ignorant liberal freaks that have utterly no clue how their own government functions.

Poli Sci 101: Congress (more specifically the House), controls the purse-strings of the nation, not Presidents.

You can always count on liberal freaks to get everything about their own government completely wrong.

Who knows. People are so obsessed.
Whether its Bashing Obama (at least he is still in power) or Bashing Bush.

Some have a hard time moving on. The one they put into office can't seem to fix much of anything and seems hell bent on screwing up foreign policy even more. Do they know that over 73% of the war casualties in Iraq and Afg have happened under Obama? Probably not.

A greater load of tripe has rarely been seen, and for this site, that's saying something. There you go with your fascist talk, which no one here, not even the worst lunatic wingers, take seriously.

Obama wrecked the economy? Who was president in 2008 when the economy went completely down the s**tter? Who was president during the fourth quarter of 2008 when the GDP declined more than 9%?

Perhaps keep this in mind when b*tching about Obama.

While I'm no fan of Bush, he is no longer president & he can do what he likes in his free time. I'm not going to sink to the level of conservatives & insult him on a personal level.
