Lakewood, a city that is growing rapidly and where more than half of the residents are Orthodox Jews will cutting funds to public schools, eliminate public buses and cut school programs solely so they could provide buses to private Jewish schools. Parents of public schools have protested and causes major traffic jams on streets recently and protested last few months. Nearly all public officials including the mayor is Orthodox Jew.
This was also the city where few years' ago where bus drivers' had to take Jewish kids to school on Thanksgiving despite wanting to be off and spend the major American holiday with their families.
Another controversial issue is that the city kicked out homeless tent people from the streets after being there for many years.
Should cities provide buses to private schools through tax payers' public money? What do you think?
