Official government measurements show that the world's temperature has cooled a bit since reaching its most recent peak in 1998.

...and once again for the benefit of those that have no idea of the difference between weather and climate...

The Important Differences Between "Climate Change" and "Global Warming"

Global Warming — An overall warming of the planet, based on average temperature over the entire surface.

Climate Change — Changes in regional climate characteristics, including temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind, and severe weather events.

Let's explore the differences between these two concepts in more detail
It's worth remembering that global warming is based on an increasing average global temperature. Some parts of the planet (such as the Arctic) are getting warmer much faster than other areas. It's even possible that some regions could actually experience regional cooling at the same time the planet as a whole is experiencing global warming. Here's how.

Thank you for that post. Clarification based on actual links and information is imperative to any respectful debate. That being said, you did notice what the OP's link stated didn't you? The temperature of the world has gone down. Which would affect the theory of "global warming" But I do see why you posted the comparison, since the link immediately starts talking about people attacking theories on climate change based on global cooling. Two different subjects, although one does directly affect the other. Once again, thanks for the link.

PS. As for the warming in the Arctic, most don't know that while the ice is melting on one side of Antarctica, the ice sheet on the opposite side is growing and thickening. This points more to the possibility of a slight shift in our axis or crustal slippage.

Just wait and see... when temperatures continue to drop... the global warming fanatics will claim victory and say that the decrease in CO2 emissions caused US temperatures to decrease... bunch of morons... I get tired when global warming fanatics think the world revolves around what they think and that global temperature revolves around the BS idea that its from CO2....

What, you mean Obama and the other world leaders who met to discuss setting goals for global warming aren't already out there claiming a victory. What I would really like to see is for this trend to continue. It would really throw a wrench into the Cap and Trade Bill. You know, since CO2 is responsible for global warming and we must be taxed because nearly everything produces CO2. Funny how they conveniently leave out the fact that the ocean is responsible for creating about 95% of that CO2. Guess Neptune better keep his checkbook handy!

Many scientists agree, however, that hotter times are ahead. A decade of level or slightly lower temperatures is only a temporary dip to be expected as a result of natural, short-term variations in the enormously complex climate system, they say.

This paragraph taken from the same article that the OP provided. Just run with the ball and cherry pick whatever suits you to advance a point, right?

It is "climate change". Didn't you get the memo? That way, CO2 emissions can be implicated whether the temperature goes up or down. Both ways are covered.

What I find interesting about the entire Global Warming debate is that ...lets say for argument sake that Global Warming isn't happening(BTW which is true..) )...And lets say that tomorrow that every notable scientists comes out and states that they had been wrong about Global Warming... it's not happening...It would break the hearts of all these global warming believers...Its as though they want it to be true the earth is burning up...I think alot of these global warming believers lack something in their personal lives and need GW to give meaning to their lives...

A. There are a dozen threads on this topic.
B. You're well aware of that fact.
C. Global climate change is the proper term and it is occurring.
D. Micro weather changes are different from macro weather changes.
E. This is not affecting the rising temperatures of the ocean.
