This comes as a surprise to many, but one of the best places in the US for cherry blossoms is Newark, NJ.

And airfares can be had for a bargain price right now, thanks to Covid, in case anyone wants to fly to New Jersey to see them.

I've heard the capitol in Salem has a really nice display. Though I didn't know the nearby streets had cherry blossoms as well. It sounds like I need to visit Salem as well over the next few weeks to see the blooms.

Looks like they have a Cherry Blossom Day at the Capitol on March 21st.

Make a loop through Mt Angel, Silver Falls, and Woodlburn Tulip area (If appropriate timing). Many wild cherries and other flowering trees should be in bloom since it has been so warm.

Portland Cherry Blossoms are in bloom!!

I decided to catch sunrise at Waterfront Park this morning and it was beautiful. Photos to follow. Hopefully this last winter cold front won't kill them off before folks get a chance to fully enjoy them. I don't know how frost tolerant they are.

Since Portland is so far along already, I suspect Salem, UW Seattle and other well known PNW cherry tree blooms are as well.

Looks like a good spot on the river to catch salmon or sturgeon.

Can you actually fish for these species on the Columbia in the heart of Portland metro?
